Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Development Director to lead our Regional Development, Environment, and Planning Directorate. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving regional development, environmental health, strategic land use planning, and economic growth for Maranoa Regional Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the development and implementation of regional planning strategies, including land use and economic growth initiatives.
  • Manage environmental health services, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering sustainable practices.
  • Provide strategic direction for the development and execution of policies related to regional development and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive community engagement and economic development projects.
  • Ensure effective governance, budgeting, and resource allocation across multiple departments.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering professional growth and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Strategic thinker and proven leader with the ability to align long-term plans and motivate diverse teams to achieve community-focused goals.
  • Practical expertise in regional development, environmental management, and planning, underpinned by a strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building relationships with stakeholders, the community, and government bodies.
  • Expertise in regional development, environmental management, and planning, with a track record of delivering successful projects.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments, with a solution-oriented mindset to navigate complex challenges.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to driving positive outcomes for the community and council.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Regional/Urban Planning, Environmental Management, Engineering, or similar.
