Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Credit Director to lead our Financial Institutions and Government team within Westpac Institutional Bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of financial institutions and government clients, including the origination process for new transactions and ongoing monitoring and management of existing customers.
- Lead a team of 6 analysts, providing coaching and guidance on professional development.
- Write credit submissions, including detailed risk analysis, assessment, and recommendations.
- Presentation and negotiation of submissions through WIB's risk management decision process.
- Structuring transactions, including negotiation of acceptable terms and conditions.
- Responsible Officer review and oversight function for a select portfolio of clients.
- Manage portfolio credit risk and portfolio hygiene, including preparation and oversight of annual reviews.
- Monitoring and researching market and industry trends, providing relevant industry insights and thought leadership to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years' experience in wholesale banking or a related field, with experience in credit writing and credit assessment.
- Thorough understanding of the FI and NBFI space, with expertise in the banks and finance company sectors highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers.
- People leadership or coaching experience highly regarded.
- Solid understanding of wholesale banking products.
- Degree in an analytical focused field such as finance, business, or economics.
- Compelling communication skills, with the ability to deliver well-written, quality analysis that addresses readers' needs.
- Intimate knowledge of customers through client meetings, research, and interaction with stakeholders.
