We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Trainee to join our Public Health team. This role is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in the field of public health.

The successful candidate will have completed a Master of Public Health degree and be eligible to commence advanced public health training. They will work closely with experienced public health professionals to develop and implement policies, programs, and projects that improve the health and wellbeing of communities.

This position offers a unique chance to contribute to the development of public health strategies and make a real difference in people's lives. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have high-level computer literacy skills.

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a MBBS or equivalent qualification, be registered with the Medical Board of Australia, and have a Master of Public Health degree or equivalent. You will also need to demonstrate interest or experience in public and population health, and have high-level written and verbal communication skills.

  • Undertake specific public health projects that align with the routine work of the public health unit and meet the competency requirements of AFPHM trainees.
  • Assist public health staff in investigating disease outbreaks and responding to public health risks.
  • Contribute to the implementation of public health policies and programs within NBMLHD.
  • Develop and analyse public health surveillance systems in NBMLHD.
  • Participate in public health research and writing reports.
