Senior Mental Health Clinician Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our Psychiatric Emergency Care Team in the Emergency Department and Mental Health Telephone Triage. This is a full-time or part-time, ongoing opportunity for a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Social Work, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist to make a meaningful contribution to our team.

About the Role

The successful applicant will play a key role in providing high-standard acute clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, and support to consumers experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their carers/families. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership, direction, and supervision of multi-disciplinary staff in service delivery to clients
  • Actively promoting and implementing the agreed model of care for the service
  • Recruitment, selection, and induction of staff into the team in conjunction with the Manager
  • Deputising for the Manager as required
  • Inter-agency liaison activities within the region
  • Maintaining clinical systems and information management processes that support service delivery
  • Providing a front-line service to the LRH Emergency Department, including timely response in accordance with ED KPIs, advice, and education to ED staff
  • Conducting assessments in a timely manner and completing safety plans in collaboration with consumers, carers, significant others, and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Using current evidence-based interventions and collaborating with community organisations to meet identified needs
  • Monitoring consumers' physical/medical state and associated treatments
  • Providing pharmacological/psychoeducation specific to consumers' requirements
  • Adhering to organisational documentation guidelines when recording treatment and support
  • Participation in and provision of clinician supervision

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Clinical Psychology
  • Minimum 4 years post-registration experience in Mental Health
  • Experience working in acute adult services, triage services, and/or mental health emergency departments
  • The ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to mental health consumers
  • Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, mental health conditions, and treatment options
  • Capacity to work effectively within a team structure and as a sole clinician
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external services
  • Working knowledge of NSQHS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
