Senior Mental Health Clinician Opportunity

Latrobe Regional Hospital is seeking an experienced and qualified Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Social Work, Occupational Therapist, or Psychologist to join the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team in the Emergency Department and Mental Health Telephone Triage.

The successful applicant will play a key role in providing high-standard acute clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, and support to consumers experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their carers/families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership, direction, and supervision of multi-disciplinary staff in service delivery to clients
  • Actively promote and implement the agreed model of care for the service
  • Take a leading role in the recruitment, selection, and induction of staff into the team
  • Deputise for the manager as required
  • Inter-agency liaison activities within the region
  • Monitor and maintain clinical systems and information management processes
  • Front-line service to the LRH Emergency Department, including timely response and advice to ED staff
  • Conduct assessments and complete safety plans in collaboration with consumers, carers, and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Use current evidence-based interventions and collaborate with community organisations
  • Monitor consumers' physical and medical state and associate treatments
  • Provide pharmacological and psychoeducation specific to consumers' requirements
  • Adhere to organisational documentation guidelines
  • Participation in and provision of clinician supervision

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Clinical Psychology
  • Minimum 4 years post-registration experience in Mental Health
  • Experience working in acute adult services, triage services, and/or mental health emergency departments
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to mental health consumers
  • Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, mental health conditions, and treatment options
  • Capacity to work effectively within a team structure and as a sole clinician
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external services
  • Working knowledge of NSQHS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
