Job Description

The Operations Manager is a critical role at the University of Tasmania, providing leadership to the state-wide technical team and ensuring efficient, safe, and professional delivery of research and teaching infrastructure and programs.

This position requires a proactive, solutions-focused leader with strong stakeholder engagement skills, operational planning experience, and ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Lead and manage teams, ensuring safe, efficient, effective and high-quality delivery of teaching, research and field programs across the state.
  • Promote and maintain a strong Work Health and Safety (WHS) culture.
  • Manage expenditure and cost recovery across assigned budgets.
  • Provide high-level technical advice and input into strategic planning and progress reporting.

Key requirements for this role include:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of research, teaching and operational processes.
  • Ability to manage teams with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in development and implementation of safety and risk management procedures.
  • Broad understanding of building design, scientific research equipment and agricultural machinery.
