Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our CLCM team as a Naval Architect (Structural Engineer) at Garden Island, Sydney.

You will support the CLCM's Specialist Projects Team through analysis and development of engineering changes, focusing on requirements development, design, field service investigations and technical queries.

As a key member of our team, you will provide guidance on technical matters related to structures on products being supported, hold an Engineering Delegation and execute risk-based technical advice on sustainment activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide structural engineering expertise, leadership and direction for engineering change activities on platform structures to meet contract requirements from ACSSPO.
  • Deliver autonomous engineering outputs for planned schedules, ensuring compliance with approved policies, plans and processes.
  • Exercise technical oversight and assurance over engineering activities via systems engineering, configuration control and materiel support processes.
  • Manage systems engineering process including requirements engineering, integration engineering, verification and validation, test and evaluation, mechanical, electrical, structural and safety engineering.
  • Develop tasking statements for design tasks to be executed in accordance with the planned schedule.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to develop requirements and solutions for Engineering Change Management, Configuration management, Systems Safety and Certification.
  • Review engineering design task deliverables and conduct associated technical Design Reviews.
  • Verify new Request for Problem Resolution against approved Requirements baseline, Certification Basis and Safety Case on products being supported.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering qualification in a recognised Engineering related discipline or equivalent.
  • Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework, such as Department of Defence.
  • Hold or be eligible for membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineer.
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience, typically ranging from 5-10 years.
  • Eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.
  • Eligible to obtain SQEP Engineering Delegation Authority within an Authorised Engineering Organisation.
