STEM Coach for Girls

This is a unique opportunity to empower and inspire young women in STEM fields.

  • The Curious Minds initiative provides an eight-month program that enables girls from across Australia to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through interactive sessions, practicals, and field trips.

As a volunteer STEM coach, you will work with a female student to help her build skills and confidence in a STEM area. Responsibilities include:

  • Attending webinar training and meetings with other STEM Coaches
  • Meeting your student at Summer Camp in December to initiate a bond and get a head start with mentoring
  • Connecting with your student every three weeks to assist with their STEM exploration and story sharing, and providing guidance and insights into a STEM career
  • Attending an online wrap-up session during the winter camp in July to celebrate the achievements of the group

Qualifications include:

  • A successful track record in STEM activities
  • The ability to connect with young people, particularly high school students
  • An understanding of and agreement to coach responsibilities
  • A valid Working with Children Check or equivalent
  • The ability to commit to time requirements
  • Residency in Australia during the program
