Support Refugee Integration as a Bicultural Facilitator

This role requires working with newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers, supporting their cultural transition in Australia.

As a Bicultural Facilitator, you will lead groups of 12-16 participants through the 'Families in Cultural Transition' program, tailored to meet the needs of each group.

The content and activities for the FICT program are contained within a set 'FICT Kit'. You will be required to prepare a customized program that selects the most relevant activities based on the needs, culture, and experience of group members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting participants and organizing venue, catering, and childminding for groups
  • Working closely with a group co-facilitator and an assigned FICT Project Officer
  • Delivering groups primarily on weekdays or evenings, with flexible work arrangements possible
  • Meeting vaccination requirements and adhering to NSW Health policies

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of the key issues faced by refugees and asylum seekers as they settle in a new country and culture
  • Active connections with the refugee community from your language/cultural background in Sydney
  • High motivation to work with newly arrived refugees/asylum seekers and provide empathetic support during their cultural transition in Australia
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
