As a specialist in Aboriginal health, you will be responsible for building connections and partnerships with Aboriginal People with intellectual disability in Western NSW Local Health District.

The role involves leading research to inform culturally safe care with Aboriginal People with an intellectual disability, developing and maintaining networks and relationships, and collaborating with stakeholders.

A typical day includes engagement with Aboriginal communities, undertaking reviews and formal research, and working with the Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Team, Community Elders, Aboriginal Controlled Organisations and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain networks and relationships with Aboriginal communities.
  • Conduct research to inform culturally safe care with Aboriginal People with an intellectual disability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including the Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Team, Community Elders, Aboriginal Controlled Organisations and others.
