About the Role

The State of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join our team. As a key member of our HR function, you will play a critical role in providing strategic and operational human resource consultancy, advice, and services to our leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain professional relationships with our leaders to create a high level of understanding of their needs and facilitate quality human resource management practices throughout the department.
  2. Brokering Services: Foster and build relationships across the organisation to become a trusted business partner, including brokering services from the wider People and Culture teams by working collaboratively across all areas of People and Culture to build internal capability and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  3. Workforce Analytics: Utilise workforce analytics to identify trends and provide strategic and tactical HR advice to leaders regarding how to address identified issues.
  4. Coaching and Training: Provide coaching, training and advice to leaders to increase capability and to manage people issues, including performance management, discipline, complaints, recruitment and selection and organisational change.
  5. Industrial and Employee Relations: Identify any industrial and employee relations risks and encompass prevention strategies to mitigate future risks (performance and conduct).
  6. Correspondence and Reporting: Prepare correspondence and support leaders in connection with performance and conduct management processes.
  7. Knowledge Management: Maintain a sound knowledge of contemporary HR management practices and provide subject matter expertise in relevant legislation, enterprise agreements, modern awards, policies and directives, in relation to contemporary human resource practice, particularly within the Queensland Public Sector.
  8. Communication and Representation: Prepare written submissions, executive briefs and associated correspondence on significant human resource issues and support the department at meetings, conferences and tribunals including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
  9. Record Keeping and Reporting: Actively contribute to and maintain records, case and file management systems (including iDOCS and SharePoint). Contribute to and/or prepare data reports as required.
  10. Project Coordination: Assist the Manager, Business Partnerships, in the coordination of workforce projects ensuring achievement of deliverables within required timeframes.
  11. Culture and Learning: Share knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and learning within Business Partnerships, to enable maximum reach of HR solutions and initiatives.
