The Operational Excellence Lead is a key position within the Internal Audit & Operational Excellence function, reporting directly to the Group General Manager. This role is responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement across the Enterprise, identifying opportunities to optimise and enhance processes, workflows, and systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute the Operational Excellence strategy for the Enterprise, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for process redesign, quality improvement, and best practice utilisation.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing processes, workflows, and systems to identify inefficiencies, pain points, and bottlenecks, developing pragmatic and actionable recommendations to address these opportunities.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting opportunities, recommendations aligned to better practices, and expected benefits, communicating these to Middle and Senior Management for consideration in prioritisation for implementation.
- Oversee the timely and effective implementation of recommendations by the relevant Business Unit, providing advisory support as needed, and assisting management with the implementation of recommendations.
- Establish and monitor metrics to measure the effectiveness of recommendations implemented by the relevant Business Unit, providing Business Units with operational excellence advisory support on any material new or changes to processes, workflows, and systems.
- Assist with the preparation of Management and Board reports, helping to enhance Operational Excellence capability across the Enterprise through developing and implementing process improvement tools, methodologies, and training.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience in process improvement, operational management, or a related field.
- Extensive financial services experience, preferably in retail banking/consumer lending.
- Expertise in process improvement methodologies and change implementation.
- Proficient in data analysis and performance metrics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and engagement skills.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills.
- Strong attention to detail, including thoroughness in reviewing data, processes, and documentation.
- Proactive and inquisitive mindset.
