About the Role

The Carlton Football Club is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AFLW Psychologist to join our Wellbeing department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in fostering a high-performance environment that nurtures player wellbeing and supports mental health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with AFLW players to provide psychological support and guidance.
  • Conduct regular mental health screenings and create individual wellbeing plans for AFLW players.
  • Provide psychological assessments, interventions, and counseling support as needed.
  • Design and deliver a psychology curriculum to players, coaches, and staff to promote a high-performance environment and support player development.
  • Collaborate with medical and wellbeing staff to ensure a cohesive and holistic approach to player support.
  • Analyze and interpret draftee psychometric test results to inform recruiting decisions.
Requirements
  • Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and listed with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant Area of Practice Endorsement (e.g., Sport & Exercise Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology, or Counselling Psychology) – desirable but not essential.
  • Proven experience working in elite sport or a similar environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and integrate into a team environment.
  • Experience with public speaking and educational material development.
  • Competence in psychological assessments relevant to sport and mental health.
  • Proficient in assuming responsibility and working independently.
