Role Summary
The Aboriginal Communicating for Safety Interpreter plays a pivotal role in enhancing culturally sensitive healthcare services for Aboriginal patients and their families at Royal Darwin Palmerston Hospitals. This position involves delivering targeted language support, cultural brokerage, education, advocacy, and support to Aboriginal patients as well as all hospital staff.
">Key Responsibilities
- Deliver language support services tailored to the needs of Aboriginal patients and their families
- Facilitate cultural brokerage between patients and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care delivery
- Develop and implement educational programs to enhance staff awareness and understanding of Aboriginal cultural nuances
- Advocate for the rights and interests of Aboriginal patients within the hospital setting
- Provide emotional support and assistance to patients and their families during treatment and recovery
Required Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- Administrative Officer 3 qualifications or equivalent experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Capacity to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining high levels of productivity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software
Benefits
This part-time position offers a competitive remuneration package including a salary range of $66,773 - $71,746 and an annual salary review.
