Help shape the future of our Loddon Mallee Region by providing essential support to Aboriginal communities. We are seeking a skilled Sheriff Aboriginal Liaison Officer to fill a crucial role within our team.

About This Opportunity
  • Collaborate with local community members and organisations to address outstanding court and infringement obligations, promoting fairness and understanding.
  • Develop and lead regional engagement activities, fostering strong relationships between Justice Services, Fines Victoria, and local communities.
  • Identify key justice issues and work closely with stakeholders to address underlying causes, enhancing the rights and responsibilities of Aboriginal community members.

This position requires travel across the Loddon Mallee Region, with the option to be based out of the Bendigo or Mildura office.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance, referrals, and practical assistance to Aboriginal communities and individuals, helping them resolve outstanding infringements, court fines, and converted warrants.
  • BUILD STRONG PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN OUR DEPARTMENT, LOCAL ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS, AND ABOIRGAL COMMUNITY CONTROLLED ORGANISATIONS TO ENHANCE COMMUNICATION AND INTERACTION WITH JUSTICE SERVICES ACROSS VICTORIA, REGIONAL STAFF, AND THE ABOIRGAL JUSTICE WORKER PROGRAM.
  • CREATE AND LEAD COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS IN LINE WITH REGIONAL ACTION PLANS, CONTRIBUTING TO ENHANCING THE RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ABOIRGAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

Aboriginal Designated and Prioritised positions require a Certificate of Aboriginality (CoA) prior to an offer of employment being made.
