About The Role

The Eye Health Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Registered Nurse - Eye Health and the Eye Health Program in general. This role is part of a high-performing multi-disciplinary team that respects Aboriginal values, beliefs, customs, language, and traditional practices.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Assist with updating client contact records on patient postal/home location information.
  • Support managing and arranging travel for appointments with Eye Specialists and Optometrists.
  • Work closely with all Aboriginal Liaison Officers to improve engagement and access by Aboriginal clients to health services and attendance for necessary recalls.
  • Assist clients with spectacle orders.
  • Support pickup and notification of patient appointments for Eye Health Clinics.
  • Write appointment letters to clients and ensure timely delivery.
Key Requirements
  • High level organisational and communication skills, including the ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Understanding of and commitment to client confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain lines of accountability, set work priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills as demonstrated in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications.
  • Experience in client data entry and willingness to use Communicare patient record system.
