A strategic legal role is available for a skilled solicitor to join our in-house legal team. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects and contribute to the achievement of our organization's goals.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent management and analytical abilities, and experience working in a complex legal environment. They will also have the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and provide timely and accurate legal advice.
About the Role- This fixed-term contract is available for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
- As an in-house counsel, you will play a key role in ensuring our Office of General Counsel is a proactive and highly respected strategic advisory service.
- You will provide legal advice on a wide range of issues affecting our organization, including commercial, contract, property, intellectual property, IT, research, governance, and dispute matters.
- Provide timely, accurate, and practical legal advice on complex issues.
- Work with key stakeholders to enable high-quality and consistent legal advice and support to achieve our organization's objectives.
- Lead new approaches to risk management, case management, and commercial activities within our organization and its controlled entities.
- Work autonomously while enjoying the support of a highly skilled and collaborative legal team.
- Admission to practice in NSW (or qualified to practise in NSW) and at least 4 years post-admission experience as an in-house counsel or other relevant experience;
- Highly organized with excellent management, conceptual, and analytical skills and a proven ability to build strong relationships and partnerships across client business areas and with other key stakeholders;
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: administrative law, intellectual property, contract law, commercialization of IP, litigation, corporate law, property law, health law, IT law;
- Ability to work effectively within a team and in a complex in-house legal environment;
- Personal drive and integrity;
- Experience working with or in the higher education sector will be well regarded.
