About the Role

The Senior Strategic Planner plays a pivotal role in shaping the development of our city's planning scheme. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled town planner to contribute to policy development and enhance their plan-making skills within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy formulation and development activities
  • Planning scheme drafting and preparation
  • Maintenance and updates of the planning scheme
  • Collaboration with stakeholders across various levels, including government agencies, industry groups, and community organizations
  • Providing expert advice to internal and external stakeholders

This position requires expertise in growth management, urban design, environmental conservation, and risk management strategies such as flood control and bushfire mitigation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or equivalent
  • Significant experience as a town planner/urban planner
  • Development assessment or strategic planning background
  • Technical skills relevant to the role
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and policy development acumen
  • Experience in successfully applying project management principles to ensure deliverables and deadlines are met
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to develop innovative solutions
