About the role

As an Employee Relations Manager, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing strategic ER plans to assist Coles Group achieve its goals/business strategy. You'll work closely with Coles Group business units to develop ER strategies, including a roadmap to deliver a step change in the current environment, focusing on future business needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide ER advice for new business initiatives and projects
  • Manage the bargaining cycle for multiple and varied enterprise agreements (end to end), including strategy formation, planning, pre-negotiation, negotiation, implementation, and approval
  • Play an active and pivotal leading role in enterprise agreement negotiations
  • Undertake relevant advocacy, primarily at the Fair Work Commission, related to enterprise agreement bargaining, dispute resolution, and/or industrial action that has a collective impact
  • Monitor the external ER environment to identify key trends/issues that may impact Coles
  • Identify, manage, and support compliance work and regulatory authority matters
  • Identify, manage, and support legal changes that impact Coles' industrial environment
  • Primarily manage and engage with external trade unions, employer associations, and other relevant external parties

About you and your skills

We're looking for someone with strong proven experience in employee relations/employment law (including a legal and/or ER/IR qualification). You'll need to be able to develop and implement strategic ER plans to assist Coles Group achieve its goals/business strategy. Experience and understanding of the ER factors impacting a retail and supply chain environment are essential.
