Case Manager Role Summary

Reporting to the Team Leader, this Case Manager will work directly with Aboriginal children and families in the child protection system. The role ensures children can safely remain at home or transition back, while collaborating with government and sector partners.

This position operates under Section 18 of the Child Youth and Families Act (2005), empowering the team to lead decision-making in place of DFFH Child Protection.

The Case Manager engages with Aboriginal children, young people, and families to support their holistic wellbeing—physical, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual. Responsibilities include assessing risks, developing culturally grounded safety plans, and strengthening family connections to culture and community.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Implement strength-based and healing practices.
  • Advocate in the Children's Court.
  • Maintain accurate case records.
Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a Social Work or related degree (child development, trauma, family dynamics) with practical experience. Alternatively, a Diploma in Community Services (2+ years) with a child welfare focus, fieldwork, and case management training is also acceptable.

A current COVID-19 vaccination, a Working with Children's Check for a paid employee, and a Victorian Driver Licence are required.
