We are seeking a Child and Family Support Specialist to join our Counselling Intervention Support team in North Mackay.
This key role involves providing high-level care and support to children, young people, foster & kinship carers, and families.
Main Responsibilities:- Manage the intake, screening, and placement processes for children and young people with foster and kinship carers.
- Apply assessment, crisis intervention, and therapeutic approaches to support clients and escalate concerns as needed.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Deliver evidence-based parenting programs and collaborate with community partners to strengthen support networks.
- Recruit, assess, and support foster and kinship carers, including facilitating approval processes.
- Coordinate case management and planning, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
To succeed in this role, you will need a relevant qualification in social work, psychology, social sciences, or community services, or equivalent experience. You should also have a strong understanding of child protection, out-of-home care frameworks, and relevant legislation, as well as experience conducting care assessments and applying trauma-informed approaches.
