Grain Handler Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Grain Handler to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling of grain from truck unloading to storage.

  • Sampling/receiving grain at site (spearing using automatic or manual spears and then testing for protein, moisture and contaminants against specifications)
  • Monitoring the flow of grain from truck unloading and onto hopper, auger or other equipment
  • Protecting and storing grain in bunkers or permanent silo storage (includes building, breaking-down and tarping bunkers)
  • Sweeping, shovelling, blowing down dust and other general housekeeping activities including site presentation
  • Operating equipment including augers, tractors, hoppers, loaders
Requirements

Candidates should have prior experience in general labouring and be able to work in confined spaces. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good communication skills plus a positive attitude
  • Safety-conscious behaviour
  • A forklift, front-end loader ticket or an HR Truck licence will be advantageous
  • Reliability and a willingness to learn
  • Computer literacy
