About Clinical Genetics Service
">- Our team coordinates and delivers clinical genetics services at Austin Health, Eastern Health, and Northern Health. We also conduct family cancer clinics at Albury/Wodonga, Ballarat, and Shepparton.
A day in the life of a Genetic Counselor
">- You will provide genetic counseling to individuals seeking information about their family history of cancer and other genetic disorders in line with current standards of care.
- Collecting complete information required for clinic appointments during intake is crucial.
- You will work closely with other genetics team members, including clinical geneticists, oncologists, medical specialists, genetics fellows, data managers, and administrative staff, to deliver an effective genetic counseling service.
About this role
">- To succeed in this position, you must have a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or a Diploma in Genetic Counseling, along with either HGSA Board Certification or be working towards it.
- You should demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of genetic counseling principles, including medical, genetic, and psychosocial aspects.
- Foster excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Show ability to work within a multidisciplinary team as well as independently.
- Demonstrate a patient-focused, compassionate attitude.
- Take on challenges with confidence, innovation, and resourcefulness.
