Ecologist Role

We are seeking a skilled Ecologist to contribute to our diverse portfolio of natural resource management and infrastructure projects. This role is based in our Brisbane office or optionally in Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast, where you will collaborate with leading experts in Terrestrial, Marine, and Aquatic Ecology within a supportive, multidisciplinary team.

As an Ecologist, your work will be varied, meaningful, and impactful. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert ecological advice on a wide range of infrastructure and natural resource management projects.
  • Conducting desktop and field-based ecological surveys and impact assessments, focusing on terrestrial ecosystems, flora and fauna, biodiversity, and habitat.
  • Preparing high-quality technical reports, environmental analyses, and mapping outputs.
  • Undertaking ecological research and fieldwork as required.
  • Collaborating across disciplines to deliver integrated environmental and ecology work packages.
  • Engaging with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Supporting and mentoring graduate and undergraduate team members.
  • Contributing to the growth and visibility of our ecological services.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Strong identification skills in Queensland flora, fauna, and ecological communities.
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in consulting, construction, or regulatory environments.
  • Familiarity with Queensland Regional Ecosystem and Biocondition frameworks (or working towards).
  • GIS and field mapping tool experience; proficiency in MS Office.
  • Solid understanding of environmental legislation and approvals processes at all levels of government.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • A current driver's licence (4WD experience/accreditation is a plus).
  • A flexible, team-oriented mindset with strong commercial awareness.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours when needed.
  • A commitment to safety in all aspects of field and office work.
