About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Employee Relations professional to join our team at UniSuper as an Employee Relations Specialist - Policy and Framework Development. This exciting part-time opportunity will see you play a key role in shaping and defining our company's Employee Relations/Industrial Relations (ER/IR) policies, frameworks, and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy and Framework Development: Collaborate with the People Operations team to develop and implement ER/IR policies, frameworks, and tools that align with legislation and industry best practices.
  • Investigations and Case Management: Manage formal and informal cases, including investigations, with employees, leaders, and the People Business Partner (PBP) team.
  • Advice and Guidance: Provide interpretation advice on relevant employment laws, common law contracts, and enterprise agreements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with PBP's to provide SME input into ER/IR policies, practices, and procedures, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative and Award changes.
  • Training and Development: Facilitate workshops with the People team on employment law changes and best practices.
  • Representation: Act as a representative with external employment legal advice teams and prepare documents for tribunals as required.
About You

We are looking for a seasoned Employee Relations professional with a proven track record in implementing relevant change initiatives, preferably in a professional services environment. You will have strong negotiating skills, with the ability to achieve commercially viable outcomes through pragmatic solutions and effective communication at all levels.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • Deep understanding of employment law: Translating it into fit-for-purpose policy and process application.
  • Significant hands-on experience: Investigating, leading, and communicating employee relations issues and cases.
  • Experience managing relationships: With a union and understanding of Fair Work obligations and employment case law.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills: Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills: With a commercial orientation.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities: Navigating complex challenges and adapting to evolving situations.
  • Relevant qualifications: In employment/industrial relations, law, business management, or human resources.
