About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team as a Capital Works Engineer - Project Delivery Specialist. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the delivery of assigned projects, with a focus on buildings, sports facilities, and open space community facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of briefs and procurement documents and other items specific to projects;
  • Review designs, technical specifications and evaluation of tender;
  • Assist with the preparation of estimates, and responsible for expenditure, associated with work programs in the area of responsibility;
  • Project Management, OH&S Management and contract supervision of assigned projects to ensure delivery is within budget and timeframes;
  • Undertake investigations, prepare reports, planning and assist in the implementation of work programs as part of the infrastructure team;
  • Provide technical advice and response to engineering matters for community enquiries and complaints within accepted timeframes;
  • Review and report to Coordinator Projects Delivery on budget performance of assigned projects on a regular basis;
  • Prepare Asset handover documents to the council Asset team at the completion of each project in order to include/update the constructed asset into to the Asset register;
  • Liaison with both internal and external stakeholders in relation to project specific matters;
  • Carry out other duties as required by Coordinator Projects Delivery.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in the field of Civil Engineering with some relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in planning and delivering civil engineering related projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of asset management systems.
  • Ability to calculate quantities and prepare accurate cost estimates and payments for works, either from a design plan and or site inspection.
Selection Criteria
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field, with demonstrated experience in managing and delivering building and infrastructure projects, including sports facilities and open spaces.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute capital works projects, particularly within the building sector, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget while adhering to the respective OH&S requirements. Experience in using project management software and tools is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and analyse technical drawings, coupled with strong skills in financial management, quality control, contract management, and conflict resolution to ensure project objectives are met effectively.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and correspondence. Experience in engaging with stakeholders, including contractors, community groups, and government agencies, to achieve project outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues creatively and effectively during project planning and delivery. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovative solutions that enhance project outcomes.
