Capital Accounting Lead

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Capital Accounting Lead to join our team at Yarra Ranges Council.

About the Role

This role will lead all capital accounting requirements and support the financial development of the Capital Expenditure Program. You will work autonomously while collaborating with Councillors, Directors, Managers, and key business stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of capital expenditure reporting and support the Finance team in meeting statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide analysis and advice to support the budget development and funding requirements.
  • Manage month-end tasks, including income recognition, cash reconciliations, and salary capitalisation for capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and present appropriate documentation for audits.
  • Review and participate in enhancements to Council's budget and finance systems, including future system changes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for business improvements and manage the implementation of changes to ensure smooth integration with all financial aspects of the asset financial lifecycle including fixed assets.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service by partnering effectively with internal stakeholders.
