Housing Navigator with a Compassionate Approach

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Housing Navigator to assist clients in addressing issues that contribute to their risk of homelessness. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent, full-time position based in Coburg North, VIC.

About the Role

This role involves assessing the immediate and long-term housing needs of clients at risk of homelessness upon release on bail, exploring and connecting them to suitable housing options, and advocating on their behalf to access support services and community supports.

  • Assessing clients' housing needs and developing individual case plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Connecting clients to appropriate housing options and supporting them in establishing meaningful relationships with community services.
  • Providing outreach and case management services to clients referred from Court Services Victoria using a trauma-informed model of care.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including Court Services Victoria, THM, and head-leasing providers.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related field, along with relevant experience working with vulnerable populations. A current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate are also required.

You will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of it. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to build trust with clients and establish effective relationships with stakeholders. Your ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of it is essential.
