Supportive Care Specialist Role

The Sydney Local Health District's Palliative Care Service seeks a Supportive Care Specialist to deliver respectful and culturally appropriate end-of-life care for Aboriginal people. The role involves collaboration with clinicians, community-based service providers, and patient families at the primary healthcare level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a conduit for Aboriginal patients with palliative care needs in hospital and community settings.
  • Develop culturally safe environments for Aboriginal patients and their families within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead the development of culturally competent care coordination processes.
  • Work across the Sydney Local Health District to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people in relation to grief and loss.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Capacity to lead the development of culturally safe environments.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence.
