Compliance Lead for Australian and New Zealand Markets

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Compliance professional to lead our Australia and New Zealand business in ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements and Assurant Corporate Compliance programs.
As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and overseeing the compliance program across the ANZ region. This includes working closely with the Head of Compliance APAC to manage relationships with regulators such as APRA, ASIC, RBNZ, FMA & ACCC.
You will also be responsible for managing effective relationships with industry bodies like the ICA and institutions like AFCA and IFSO. Additionally, you will oversee the VSC ANZ Branch's compliance program, providing adequate oversight of implementation and updates to compliance processes and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the ANZ branch compliance program, including developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and training programs;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Assurant Corporate Compliance programs;
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and institutions to ensure effective communication and coordination;
- Provide guidance and support to employees on compliance matters, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining compliance; and
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
Requirements:
- A degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, finance, commerce) and 7+ years of experience in a compliance role or equivalent;
- Strong technical knowledge of financial services regulations and compliance frameworks in Australia and New Zealand;
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and internal stakeholders;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills;
- Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions;
- Knowledge of APRA and ASIC frameworks and previous experience at a management level in a financial services organization would be highly regarded.
