Assurant, a leading provider of global business solutions, is seeking an experienced Compliance Expert to lead our Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) market operations.

About the Role

The Head of Compliance ANZ will be responsible for ensuring that our Australian and New Zealand businesses comply with all local regulatory requirements and Assurant Corporate Compliance programs. This includes working closely with regulators such as APRA, ASIC, RBNZ, FMA & ACCC, managing relationships with industry bodies like the ICA, and overseeing the implementation of compliance processes and protocols within the VSC ANZ Branch.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in compliance, excellent interpersonal skills, and credibility at a senior level. They will be able to command respect from the business and provide effective oversight of compliance matters. A degree qualification in business, finance, commerce or a relevant discipline is essential, along with 7+ years' experience in a Compliance Officer or Manager role.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, manage and oversee the ANZ compliance program, ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements and Assurant Corporate Compliance programs.
  • Manage effective relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and institutions.
  • Provide input into strategy, business plans, budgets, and financial condition reports to ensure compliance-based decision making.
  • Develop and maintain the ANZ Branch Compliance Manual, ensuring it is updated to meet regulatory changes.
  • Engage with Corporate Compliance on trade compliance controls for the ANZ market.
  • Perform due diligence and ongoing oversight for vendors, buyers & aggregators and other third parties connected with the ANZ business.

Requirements

  • 7+ years' experience in a Compliance Officer or Manager role.
  • Degree qualified in business, finance, commerce or a relevant discipline.
  • Strong technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and credibility at a senior level.
  • Gravitas and style – able to command respect from the business.
  • Australian and Asian Pacific insurance, retail, and consumer markets experience.
  • Previous experience at a management level in a Financial/Insurance or Professional Services organization.
