We are seeking a highly skilled Naval Architect to join our team in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing model-based systems engineering tools to examine whole-of-vessel performance.

This involves using these tools to assess design trade-offs for both new platforms and upgrades to existing platforms, with the goal of maximising platform capability.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in naval architecture/maritime engineering, as well as broad knowledge of whole-of-vessel performance characteristics.

You will work effectively in a small interdisciplinary team environment and across organisational boundaries, clearly communicating complex technical results and their implications to a variety of stakeholders.

Your ability to collaborate with external partners, understand stakeholder requirements, develop targeted S&T work packages and respond to strategic drivers will deliver a capability edge to the ADF.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop model-based systems engineering tools to examine whole-of-vessel performance.
  • Assess design trade-offs for both new platforms and upgrades to existing platforms.
  • Work with external partners to initiate research programs and further develop whole-of-platform performance modelling and systems engineering capabilities.
About Our Team:

The Naval Architecture and Platform System Analysis Group is part of the Platforms Division.

We lead research and development of advanced tools and methods to assess the whole-of-vessel performance for the ADF.

We support Defence in design assurance activities and the transitioning of innovative methods to RAN and Army to increase availability, reduce costs and assure seaworthiness.
