Data Platform Specialist

The WEX data platform is undergoing a transformative journey. As a key member of the data acquisition team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building robust pipelines that feed the entire data ecosystem. You will work across multiple domains and ingestion patterns—batch, streaming, and event-driven—ensuring quality, performance, and governance are embedded in every step.
You will build and maintain high-performance data acquisition pipelines that integrate with various systems. This includes contributing to the development of a modular ingestion platform, implementing core pipeline components such as schema validation, transformation orchestration, error handling, and audit logging. Additionally, you will support batch and streaming ingestion flows, ensuring the platform meets varying latency and volume requirements across business units.
Required skills include strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or another systems-focused language. Experience with data integration and ingestion pipelines is also essential. A solid grasp of engineering fundamentals, including version control, modular design, testing, and performance tuning, is necessary. Familiarity with concepts like schema evolution, event-driven architectures, observability, and role-based access control is also required.
