A Health and Safety Leader is needed to help us achieve these goals. You will drive our risk-mitigation strategy, uphold the highest safety standards across our network, and collaborate with various teams to promote a safety-focused culture.
In this role, you will lead operations processes; identify hazards through data analysis and first-hand experience; build and execute programs to prevent injuries and enhance health and wellness; and influence operational efficiency to sustain a culture of safety. This leader will focus on coordinating and leading large, strategic projects / programs within business units (BUs) and will prioritize injury and accident prevention as well as improvements across health, safety and wellness.
We are seeking a seasoned professional with extensive experience in managing regulatory relationships, analyzing data to justify resource allocation, and improving process efficiencies. The ideal candidate has exceptional communication and project management skills, strong judgment and interpersonal skills, and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify hazards and improve occupational health and safety standards.
  • Conduct regulatory research and promote a safety-focused culture.
  • Stay attuned to changing regulations and internal performance to adjust policies when required.
  • Measure business and site performance against published requirements in health and safety standards. For all deficiencies, ensure plans are implemented to address areas of weakness.
  • Understand and analyze health and safety data and information (e.g. laws, regulations, benchmarking studies, industry best practices) to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where risk is highest.
  • Manage regulatory relationships, including interactions, and identify trend areas for improvement.
  • Develop and present reports on safety metrics and performance.
  • Lead strategic projects to enhance health and safety practices.
  • Support building health and safety competency and awareness across different business units. Lead, develop and deploy standard methods for monitoring work performed by contractors and consultants, in accordance with health and safety standards.
Essential Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of growing responsibilities in health and safety programs in manufacturing, production or service operations, with experience implementing lean principles and process improvements in an operational environment. Hold a Bachelor's degree and have deep knowledge of WHS Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice, familiarity with SafeWork Victoria/NSW and Heavy Vehicle National Law, proven ability to identify root causes and mitigate hazards.

Desirable Qualifications

At least 2 years driving process improvements experience, Master's degree, MBA in Business, Operations, Human Resources, Adult Education, Organizational Development, Instructional Design or related field, leadership experience, influencing Operational Excellence and aligning with company-wide goals.
