Role Overview

As a Community Outreach Coordinator, you will play a key role in promoting the Census and encouraging participation among people experiencing homelessness. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing engagement strategies, building relationships with community stakeholders, and providing support to field staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective engagement strategies to promote the Census and encourage participation among people experiencing homelessness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including service providers and organizations that serve people experiencing homelessness.
  • Provide training and support to field staff on engaging with people experiencing homelessness.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities in designated areas, including visiting shelters, day centers, and other locations where people experiencing homelessness may congregate.
  • Assist in recruiting and managing a team of field staff who will be responsible for conducting interviews and collecting data.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness and knowledge of the homelessness sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with limited guidance.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the Census and its processes, including work health and safety and handling personal information.
