About the Role
The Counsellor will work within our Family and Disability Services team, delivering therapeutic groups and individual counselling sessions to support children and young people who have experienced abuse or are engaging in problematic sexual behaviour. The successful candidate will also provide education and training to strengthen family units and ensure they are safe and have a positive wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an integrated counselling service that includes individual and group therapy sessions for children and young people aged 5-18 years old who have been sexually abused or are displaying problematic sexual behaviours.
- Address a range of issues arising from sexual abuse through a mix of therapeutic and family-based support services, assessment, and individual case plans.
- Work effectively with children, young people, and their non-offending parents and carers to provide support and guidance.
Requirements
- Degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioural Science.
- Eligibility for registration or membership with a recognised professional body (e.g., AASW, APS, ACA, PACFA).
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
