About the Role

The Emergency Department at Northern Beaches Hospital provides 24/7 care, comprising 50 beds and treatment spaces. The department is divided into zones, including assessment, paediatrics, short stay, adult acute, resuscitation, and mental health assessment. We work closely with the adjoining bulk-bill Medical Centre to offer a choice of treatment locations appropriate to the clinical needs of patients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) to join our Aged Care Emergency Service Team (ASET) in the Emergency Department. This is a part-time role working 24 hours per week. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive assessment and care coordination of referred patients mainly 65 years and older who present to the NBH ED.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessment and care coordination of referred patients mainly 65 years and older who present to the NBH ED.
  • Enhance the care, management, and safe discharge coordination for patients in the ED, primarily targeted at patients over 65 years but not limited to this demographic.
  • Collaborate with ED clinicians, the multidisciplinary team, and external agencies.
  • Identify patients at risk, safe discharge planning, and community referral.

Selection Criteria

  • Current Registration with AHPRA.
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing or Aged Care Nursing (or working towards).
  • Minimum of 5 years Emergency Nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
