About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industry Affairs Manager to join our team in the South West Pacific region. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a global organization that is shaping the future of air travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of IATA's agenda in the South West Pacific, working closely with the Area Manager to achieve set objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with member airlines, airports, government officials, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Advocate for and promote IATA's policies, positions, and activities amongst airlines, governments, and regional organizations.
  • Monitor and report on aero-political, economic, and commercial developments in the area, providing insights and recommendations to support IATA's objectives.
  • Work on airport operations and flight safety, passenger facilitation processes, Flight Safety Systems Standards, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Support corporate fiscal, legal, and regulatory compliance in the South West Pacific.
  • Identify new commercial opportunities, monitor market trends, and support business development activities.
  • Represent IATA at local and regional industry events, and serve as a facilitator and host for visits of Senior Managers and/or Subject Matter Experts.

Requirements

  • University degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Political Science, or a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 20 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, building relationships, and managing projects.
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of government and regulatory frameworks within the aviation sector.
  • Well-developed negotiation and lobbying skills, with a high level of cultural intelligence.
  • Strong understanding of airport operations and environmental sustainability initiatives in the aviation sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English (French and other regional languages an advantage).
  • Job location - Mascot, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
