The NSW Government is seeking a highly skilled Cultural Liaison Specialist to join their team in Sydney, NSW. This is a full-time temporary position for 12 months.
This is an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position that requires applicants to be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal, and be accepted in the community as such.
About the OrganisationThe Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) is an independent body exercising royal commission powers to detect, investigate, and expose serious misconduct within the NSW Police Force and the NSW Crime Commission.
The LECC works collaboratively with these agencies to educate and promote the prevention and elimination of officer misconduct, particularly through the identification of systemic issues that are likely to be conducive to the occurrence of officer misconduct and corruption.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will work within a small community engagement team within the Commission's Prevention and Engagement team.
In close collaboration with the Senior Aboriginal Engagement Officer, this role will be responsible for engaging and building relationships within the community, increasing engagement between the Commission and Aboriginal communities, and building organisational capacity to ensure access, equity, and inclusion of Aboriginal people in a culturally appropriate way.
The role will also help to undertake engagement with other community groups as needed by the Commission.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you'll have:
- a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with an appropriate level of cultural understanding;
- a high level of communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal) and the ability to develop collaborative partnerships;
- experience in community engagement and project management, with high-level organisational and time management skills;
- the flexibility to travel across NSW as required for the role.
We're offering a competitive salary of $95,000 - $115,000 per annum, plus benefits including:
