About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the NSW Rural Fire Service as a Development Assessment Specialist. As a key member of the Development Assessment and Planning Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that development proposals in bush fire prone areas comply with relevant policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a high volume of development applications and strategic planning proposals from Local and State Government Authorities.
  • Research and analyse information to identify and address issues for negotiating outcomes.
  • Provide high quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop relationships across government agencies to assist and educate industry in providing bush fire outcomes commensurate with the potential risk, standards, mitigation and bush fire protection.

What You'll Need

  • Strong understanding of the development assessment process and the NSW planning framework relevant to development in bush fire prone areas.
  • Ability to independently and efficiently manage a high volume of development applications and strategic planning proposals.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships across government agencies and industry.
