Geriatrician Position

This role is for an enthusiastic and passionate Geriatrician to join our department of Older People's Medicine as a substantive consultant.

We offer flexible working opportunities, full-time or part-time arrangements, allowing you to manage your workload effectively. Our forward-thinking department is developing services that begin in the community, caring for patients at home using virtual wards and throughout the hospital journey.

The successful candidate will lead ward rounds on our virtual ward supported by a Staff Grade doctor or SpR. They will provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team and have scheduled time working in the Emergency Department as part of the First Response (FIT) team.

Key responsibilities include conducting frailty assessments at the front door, with potential involvement in holding the 'hot phone' for advice or booking same/next day patients into a specialized assessment unit.

Requirements
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatrics or within six months of the expected date of CCT (or eligible for entry within 6 months of application)
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
