Job Summary

We are seeking a Disability Support Specialist to join our team at Swinburne University of Technology. This is a full-time, ongoing position based at our Hawthorn campus.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Specialist, you will play a key role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students with diverse needs. You will coordinate, deliver, and oversee tailored support services for students across Higher Education, Vocational Education, Swinburne Online, and Open Universities Australia.

Your responsibilities will include negotiating and monitoring reasonable adjustments, collaborating with academic and administrative staff, and ensuring the smooth delivery of services. You will also manage resources, maintain the client database, and facilitate training for staff on accessibility best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation pertaining to the rights of people living with disability and the responsibilities of educational institutions.
  • Utilize computerized data management systems, accurate data entry, and record-keeping skills to effectively support students and staff.
  • Negotiate on disability support or reasonable adjustment issues and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and conduct seminars and workshops to students and staff on disability-related topics.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a relevant degree and subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
