Job Opportunity:

This role offers a challenging yet rewarding experience as an Environmental Maintenance Operator in Melbourne. You will be responsible for operating street sweepers and waste collection vehicles to maintain cleanliness and safety of hard surface areas across the City of Melbourne's parks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled street sweeping operations across designated park areas.
  • Remove rubbish prior to sweeping and ensure areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Operate machinery, vehicles, and equipment safely and report any defects or malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, vehicle use, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with graffiti removal, pressure washing, and general cleaning tasks as required.
  • Drive and operate a waste compactor to assist with collections and maintain efficient waste management.
  • Support other team members as required across waste and cleaning services to ensure seamless delivery of services.
Requirements:
  • A valid Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence is essential for this role.
  • A current Working with Children Check is required for all staff working with children.
  • Understanding of machinery used in street cleaning and maintenance operations is necessary for success in this role.
  • The ability to get in and out of vehicles and perform manual tasks throughout the shift is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and teamwork abilities are critical for this position.
  • Experience with graffiti removal, pressure washing, or waste services is desirable but not mandatory.
