We're seeking a skilled professional to join our team as an Environmental Systems Specialist.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure of our datacenters, ensuring they remain operational and efficient. This will involve coordinating with vendors, recognizing safe work environments, and having a hands-on understanding of equipment operations.
The role is part of our Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, which delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services. As a CO+I Environmental Systems Specialist, you'll perform a key role in delivering these services while contributing to the development of employees through training and career opportunities.
Our infrastructure comprises over 200 global datacenters in 32 countries, supporting more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide. With a focus on environmental sustainability and optimization, we continue to evolve as we meet changing business demands.
Responsibilities- Serve as an operations specialist in one major area of CE operations (e.g., electrical, mechanical, controls, generators) and works on advanced tasks independently.
- Inspect and supervise critical environment-related facility equipment regularly for unsafe or abnormal conditions and escalate per applicable policies and standards.
- Utilize internal computerized maintenance management systems to track all equipment assets and complete work order requests for maintenance work.
- Safely respond to and lead onsite incident response teams for all abnormal conditions that impact operations, and coordinates with other critical facilities professionals to perform corrective repairs.
- Enhance, develop new or follow preexisting emergency operating procedures, methods of procedure, and standard operating procedures in relation to CE operations and incidents.
- Perform various types of maintenance and repairs following methods of procedure and standard operating procedures for one or more types of equipment.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 3+ years mission critical services work/applied learning experience (e.g., high availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields).
