Community Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Support Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a safe and welcoming environment for individuals entering the facility.
  • Provide initial response to crisis situations, including medical emergencies and overdose cases.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to de-escalate and resolve conflicts.
  • Develop and implement individualized counseling plans using active listening, conflict resolution, and educational methods.
  • Report incidents, observations, and safety concerns through established procedures.
  • Support outreach services and create short-term intervention plans.
  • Maintain consistency with our organization's vision and mission by monitoring volunteer-provided services.
  • Comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Recommend referrals to other agencies better equipped to address specific needs.
  • Advocate for clients, promoting fairness and justice.
  • Ensure the facility remains clean and tidy at all times.
  • Connect clients with resources, including detox programs and counseling services.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws and legislation affecting our community, including mental health, physical health, employment, and human rights.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in a related field of human or social services.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • At least one year of recent experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a flexible attitude towards diverse cultures. They must be able to work independently and effectively communicate with clients and colleagues.
