Job Overview

The Homeless Outreach Specialist provides support to homeless individuals in the downtown area. The goal is to build relationships with these individuals, connect them to appropriate services, listen to their needs, assess and interpret behavior, assess risks, define problems, and provide the appropriate support and counseling.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct outreach to make contact with homeless individuals staying in parks, bus shelters, living in their vehicles, or wherever they are known to reside.
  • Foster relationships with these individuals, understanding their needs and goals.
  • Assess risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Connect individuals to local resources and services, such as housing and mental health support.
  • Provide transportation for appointments, such as medical and housing visits.
  • Document progress and maintain accurate records.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Diploma in a related human or social services field.
  • Current First Aid Certification.
  • Valid BC Drivers' License, Class 5 with a clean abstract.
  • A minimum of one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
