Payroll Specialist Role
We're seeking a highly skilled payroll specialist to join our team. As a key member of our payroll operations, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all apprentices, trainees, and labour hire payroll.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of modern awards and employment legislation, with the ability to interpret and implement relevant requirements. You'll work closely with our Payroll Compliance Coordinator to ensure compliance with all tax and legislative requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing payroll for all apprentices, trainees, and labour hire in an accurate and compliant manner.
- Assisting with the fortnightly payroll of staff and directors as required.
- Calculating and processing termination/graduation payments.
- Calculating and processing rate changes for apprentices/trainees.
- Adjusting wage rates, including corresponding with both host and employee regarding the changes within expected time frames.
- Entering new starters accurately into the payroll system and obtaining all appropriate paperwork, including all tax and legislative requirements.
- Corresponding with the host where required in conjunction with the Payroll Compliance Coordinator.
- Maintaining the Apprentices & Trainees Long Service Leave register accurately.
- Interpreting and implementing relevant Modern Awards and EBA's.
- Providing assistance to the Payroll Compliance Coordinator as required.
- Assisting with End of Financial Year processing.
- PIAWE calculations and Worker's Compensation payment processing.
- Assisting with the calculation and processing of year-rate changes.
- Calculating and processing competency-based progressions.
- Maintaining payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
- Resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Supporting all external audit related to payroll.
