About the Program

Our family intervention and support services aim to provide vulnerable families with the necessary support to maintain a safe and stable home environment. We work closely with the Department of Child Safety, Seniors, and Disability Services to ensure that our services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each family.

About the Role

The Practitioner in Family Intervention will provide critical in-home support to families facing child protection challenges. This role involves delivering child-centered case work, ensuring families receive the guidance and resources needed to create safe home environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home support to families facing child protection challenges
  • Deliver child-centered case work to ensure families receive the necessary guidance and resources
  • Model and teach essential skills, such as communication and home management skills
  • Conduct thorough assessments and advocate for children's best interests
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team and engage with stakeholders to drive quality improvement

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Services, Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology, or similar
  • Current National Police Check
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Current License Care Service Check
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the service region
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours, including on-call work

About You

  • Proven ability to empower clients through practice frameworks that foster sustainable change
  • Demonstrated experience in family intervention within a statutory setting, with a solid understanding of the Child Protection Act (1999) and its amendments
  • Skilled in building relationships with parents and children to enhance service delivery and outcomes
  • Expertise in supporting parents to develop practical skills that promote self-determination and improve home safety
  • Experience in assessing, planning, and delivering services tailored to children's needs, while addressing protective and risk factors
  • Strong communication skills, including decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
  • Familiarity with various child protection and community-based services
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
