**About the opportunity**
Our Children, Youth & Family services offer a variety of child protection, youth justice, outreach, family intervention and family support services.

As a **Part-Time Youth Worker, Foster & Kinship Care**, permanent part-time position working 16 hours per/fortnight minimum. This role is a community based role supporting children in family based placements. The role requires is based in Eight Mile Plains and requires is some travel within the Brisbane South East region (Eight Mile Plains, Gold Coast and Capalaba). Flexible availability is essential as start and finish times can vary, this role would be suitable for a university student or similar who has the flexibility required.

Your role will help support young people with education, medical appointments, family contact, social and cultural connections, positive living skills and budgeting, and enhances the development of self-regard, community inclusion and family relationships.

You work with the Coordinator and Practitioner to develop therapeutic interventions that will assist the young person through their Foster & Kinship placement.

A day in the role of a Youth Worker, Foster & Kinship Care will include:

- Providing support to children and young people incorporating a therapeutic and trauma informed approach
- Providing young people in placements with transport to school, appointments, community access as well as in-home support
- Being a part of a wider team who work collaboratively to help with young person achieving their personal goals
- Promoting good hygiene and good nutrition with young person
- Completing daily case notes, admin tasks and incident reports
- Participation in individual and group supervision.

We also require workers to have:

- Already hold a Certificate IV or higher qualification in **Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services or similar**:

- A paid Blue Card or have applied for one
- Child Safety Personal History Check (LCS2)
- Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training
- Current valid driver's license (Green provisional plates or higher)
- Be able to provide 2 recent references
- Flexibility to cover both planned and emergency shifts, weekdays and weekends shifts, **with the largest majority of shifts occurring on weekday afternoons.**
