About the Role

As a key player in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) domain, the DEI Specialist will be instrumental in executing strategies that foster diversity, guarantee equity, and enhance the inclusion of under-represented demographics within our workplace. Focusing primarily on disability, your mission will be to elevate the employment participation of individuals with disabilities, ensuring their successful integration into the workforce. This role offers a unique chance to collaborate with leadership and operational teams to cultivate an inclusive and accessible environment where individuals with disabilities are valued for their unique contributions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitating the recruitment and employment of individuals with disabilities within the organization.
  • Assessing the skills and requirements of individuals with disabilities to identify appropriate employment opportunities.
  • Partnering with Job Access Providers and Disability Employment Service Providers to recruit qualified candidates.
  • Supporting the adaptation of recruitment processes, including applicant screening, assessments, and interviews.
  • Coaching individuals with disabilities and guiding leaders in managing diverse teams effectively.
  • Creating and delivering training programs on diversity awareness and inclusion, addressing myths, stereotypes, and biases.
  • Collaborating with leaders to identify and implement necessary workplace accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
  • Designing and executing initiatives that promote inclusion and engagement throughout the organization.
  • Advocating for the rights and needs of under-represented groups, working to dismantle barriers to employment and promote equal opportunities.
  • Monitoring and analyzing employment participation rates of individuals with disabilities, utilizing data and feedback to enhance DE&I initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a dedicated advocate for diversity and inclusion, possessing exceptional communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of the impacts of disability and necessary accommodations. Key attributes include empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills, enabling the establishment of trust and rapport with clients and stakeholders. You are proactive and adept at developing and executing DE&I initiatives, with a collaborative approach to working with various teams and external partners.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A strong commitment to serving the community and supporting individuals with additional needs.
  • Proven experience in implementing effective practices and initiatives that facilitate the successful employment of individuals with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with community outreach services, vocational rehabilitation programs, and disability employment services.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Empathy, patience, and sensitivity when engaging with diverse individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships.
  • Experience in job design, placement, or vocational assessment is highly regarded.
  • Exposure to a contact center or service-oriented industry is beneficial.
